Plow is equipped with a Yeomans Cross Arm Roller. Here a liquid fertilizer rig has been mounted of the plow frame and so can dispense liquid manure deep and direct behind the cultivating point.
Troy Martz is a US Permaculturist, natural farmer and gasifier enthusiast, and has some unique concepts of low cost and simple gasification systems. Here he has his “natural farmer” hat on in setting up this liquid fertilizer unit on this GP39 – 6 Yeomans Plow.
When the Yeomans Plow gets to about 6 inches deep, in most soils, or even subsoils it will pull itself down into the ground. So depth control wheels are needed to hold it at the desired depth. The Cross Arm roller using a simple adjustable link chain holds the plow at that desired depth. It’s then its own depth control system. In soils with low active organic matter content and especially when conditions are dry clods can be brought up. The pull down effect combined with the roller is perfect for breaking up these clods. They have nowhere to go except to break down. That’s what we are seeing here.
